My partner and I love to dance and listen to music. We are seeking places that are affordable with a nice atmosphere. We enjoy everything from piano bars to live bands. However, from the little I have ventured in Chicago (new to area) drinks are like $12 each. Is there a place more affordable for our date nights and preferably on the West Side?

If you've paid $12 per drink in the Chicago area you have very expensive taste. Those prices are not commonplace.
When you get here and look around and meet others living locally you'll learn where places to go are. Get a copy of the
Chicago Reader ,
Time Out Magazine , and other free and inexpensive publications. They list many places.
