@SpikeDurden: What about the state and city budget crisis. Do you feel like that's impacting your day-to-day life? Are you worried that it will?

@linicx: I already consider Chicago's proximity to Wisconsin to be a significant bonus for an already great city.

@CollegeHusky: Congratulations on the move. I'm not absolutely positive about the neighborhood, but Lakeview seems like a good fit. I liked Old Town a lot when I visited last winter, but probably any of the usual Northside neighborhoods would work.

For Asian restaurants, if you like Indian food, you have all of Devon Avenue. Chinatown has some great Chinese restaurants too and there are even some in the hated suburb of Evanston.

A lot of good thai and vietnamese food as well.

And who hates Evanston?

Needed an emotion - it is a joke, but many people here seem to hate all suburbs.

I think that's an excellent pick. You really can't go wrong with Old Town! A little pricey, but probably worth every penny. Good public transit, great restaurants, good bar, diverse age group, and basically has everything you need and more. Close to downtown too!

Chicago has the greatest waterfront in the world and Seattle is surrounded by great scenery.

And, the Seatac stroll has more hookers per street corner than old West Madison St ever had.lol
