I live in a highrise where the building controls the heat and A/C. And the system is set up so they can't just flip a switch and change over from one to the other. That makes for some tricky days during the Spring and Fall when the temps change rapidly.

And I just found out we do not have AC in the house I'm staying now. Are AC bills here expensive?

We got AC installed in our house last year, but it would need to be 10-15 degrees warmer or much more humid before we'd turn it on. I've had all the windows open the last couple of days and am really enjoying a nice breeze going through the house.

It will be interesting to see what the highs are like this ummer. Right now they're also predicting a cray summer of thunderstorms. Most likely we'll get some hailstorms like the big one we had last year. I need to figure out some way to protect my garden from crap like that. The hailstones actually put dents in a couple of my grills and smokers.

I HATED the weather last summer and was hoping for one much more normal or even on the cool side. I would be thrilled if we had 3 months of temps from 50 - 75 coming up.

Ninth warmest according to this article

Chicago area gets ready for near-record highs that allow many animals and plants to flourish - Chicago Tribune

This year's winter has been Chicago's ninth-warmest. The warm spell this week could bring a string of days reaching into the 70s and an 80-degree high Wednesday, which would mark the third-earliest 80-degree day to occur in Chicago in 141 years, according to WGN-TV meteorologist Tom Skilling.

"This is extraordinary," Skilling said. "It is effectively like seeing May level warmth in March."

What's up with the douchery?? People die in their homes every year because they can't afford to run their air conditioning.
