I lived in Bridgeport. I really liked the area (very family oriented, but missed having more restaurants and stuff within walking distance. My fiance didn't like it there because we had to drive through the loop when we went to visit our folks and didn't like feel of the neighborhood... it wasn't a very young area.

Why do you need 2 bathrooms if it's just you and your fiancee? You should have little trouble finding a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment at that price.

Why not live in the Ravenswood/Lincoln Square area? Easy commute to Roosevelt, quite neighborhoody, you can probably find a rental in your range (although you might have to settle for one bath). Even Andersonville would probably be a good choice.

Skokie and Niles are very safe and are less than an hour to downtown. West of Evanston and much safer. They have CTA and Metra. Great little towns, very walk able plus public transportation. Mayfair , portage park and Irving park in the city are great safe neighborhoods. Lincoln Square is affordable and safe too. Great transportation too. Good luck.

Thank you! and yes, we need two bathrooms! we have people come visit and don't want to be squished in one. I could settle for having one if we had extra room to set up a station for girls to get ready, but that means more square footage.

Vintage apartments won't have 2 bathrooms, so that means higher end newer buildings. Your budget is too low.

This.

I always find it funny how Americans with small familys insist on have multiple bathrooms.

Very true. I grew up in a household of 8, and we had only 1.5 bathrooms. And I shared a bedroom for my entire youth.

This "need" for separate "everything" has got to stop. It's ridiculous to need/expect 2 bathrooms for a 2-3 person household.
