i'll be visiting chi town leaving thursay by megabus and should be arriving around 11:15 - 12 am at union station. i have quite a few questions so bare with me lol, my first one is i know the transportation in chicago is pretty good and any part of the city/metro is accessible by train and bus.. so i ask since i'm staying near midway airport is the area nice? i've never been on the south side, only been on the north side i stayed in schaumberg last time i was here and that area was nice..i've heard the southside can get nasty. obviously i know not to venture out at night into neighborhoods, etc.

now how much would be a good amount of cash to carry for train fees, bus, cabs and such for a 3 day visit? i'd imagine 100 $ should do me fine, but a little outside speculation would be appreciated. now for the fun stuff, what are some must see/do things in this city...i'll forsure be catching a cubs game ! also my dad who's from the city told me to check out the science museum, but what other activities ? (i'm 18 and my gf is 19 btw so no bars haha)

any tips on traveling down here would be great too, like some do's and don'ts or whatever.

thanks!

The midway area is not so good. If you stay really close to the Midway airport, there's an orange line (train) near there which you can take to go directly to the loop.
$100 for 3 days would be more than enough.
$2.25 is the initial charge for trains & buses and the transfer is around a quarter. You can buy transit card directly in the station or look up there website. They probly have 3days pass card or sh*t like that. Google is your best friend!
The science museum is definitely great. A cubs (altho I'm a sox fan) is good too.
Stroll in the city (downtown). Go to the parks. Eat at a good place. Chicago hotdogs are the best in the country.
Go to the lakefront. Depending on the music you like, there are some good cafes with live music.

last time i let my gf book a hotel, she thought it was o hare she was booking for. i'm trying to get a hotel (same name) at o hare which is like not even 1 or 2 miles away from a train rather than 6 miles away like at midway. i'm a sox fan too but i don't think they're in town so i'm going with the sure thing the cubs.
