I don't understand why people in canaryville let this lilltle punks run around and pretend to be a hardcore thug.Every night I see all this so callec Deuces. I had a gun pointed to my head. Good thing I'm a army veteran this punks didn't have bullets. When I contacted the police they were no help.Peole we need to stop this nonsense. Most of this kids I'm sure have parents so were are the parents.Enough is enough we need to address this put an end to this.Lets take back are community. If the police can't help Im going to start a neighborhood watch. This is a warning if the police or the community can't address this issue its open season I will protect myself by any means necessary this is the land if the Rise up people before its to late.
That's surprising. It is a relatively small community where everyone knows each other. Good for this guy, though.

The gangs are a disgusting cancer on many areas in Chicago that would otherwise be fairly safe.

So true. And how's this for irony?

CPS tier system update changes chances of getting into selective school - Chicago Sun-Times

...Another surprise was the single tract encompassing part of Canaryville, just south of Bridgeport. It joined the club of Chicago’s richest and most educated communities, jumping one level to Tier 4.

That is crazy! I guess there must be something to be said for consistency... I've only been there a few times but my impression of Canaryville is that while it is pretty middle class, there is no glaring impoverishment, either.

Whereas so many neighborhoods have exceedingly wealthy sections but also a good deal of destitution.

I live in Canaryville. We have a watch group the Canaryville Watch Group that has 186 current members broken down into 47 watch groups. A Group goes out each night from Wednesday thru Sunday 10 months of the year. We suspend watch for most of Jan and Feb as the knuckleheads stay indoors due to the weather. There is a watch group sign on a third of the homes in the neighborhood. We meet once a month the third wednesday after the CAPS meeting. We have averaged 50 plus at our CAPS meetings and calls for service to the police department range from 1300 to 2000 per month. We have the scum on the run. Presently 11 of the Douches are in either state prison or at Cook county without bond pending trial. They don't know what hit them. I don't thinnk there is a more proactive neighborhood in the city. We slam slum lords in housing court and we show up at 51st and wentworth to make sure that judges find probable cause and remand the cases for trial with the SA. There is not much that we haven't been doing short of putting on the balaclavas and thumping them though that has happened in a few instances already.

Awesome to hear. Are the troublemakers from the neighborhood or outside it?

Keep up the good fight!

Awesome. Great template for other neighborhoods who don't have the institutional knowledge of how to work within the system.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess the "Insane Deuces" do not trace their ancestry from Cork, Kerry, Clare, etc.

Ha... I'm not sure. I think there are some wannabe gangbangers in Canaryville. At least that is what I read.

I don't know.

The last time I was there about 10 teenagers outfitted from head to toe in black Sox gear hanging out on a corner looked at me like "What the hell are you doing here?"

U-turn time!
