Random general question. We are choosing a unit that is exactly equal in terms of floor, space, appliances, etc. except for the view. One view is looking SE to Millennium Park and the water (you can see the buildings along N Michigan as well), and one is facing NW to the loop and river north (you can see the Sears/Willis and the Hancock tower). The building is on N Michigan and E lake.

Would be interested to hear what everyone thinks!

South-facing windows will get better light than north-facing windows. Assuming you like light...

Price is the exact same for both units. Both are on the 35th floor.

Your descriptions don't make sense. Particularly for the "NW" looking apartment. Can't comment because of that.

Could they be looking NE and SW instead?

Southern exposure will give more light, especially in the Winter because of the Sun angle..In the Summer, SE exposure gets the morning light, and less starting around noon .. Good for using less heat in the Winter and gets less Sun during the Summer .. Northwest will be darker in the Winter, and get the afternoon sun during the summer ..

Makes enough sense to me if it's a corner unit with windows facing both north and west, or if it's a big enough window surface literally facing northwest.

Anyway, personally I'd rather look at the skyline than look at water, especially at night when the water becomes a huge expansive of nothing. But that's just my preference. Many other people would rather look out over the lake.
