Which Investment Banks have a major Chicago presence? I know about JP Morgan and Bank of America. What about others. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanleys have a few Chicago openings, any idea what exactly is located in Chicago?
I am looking to relocate from NYC, Chicago seems to have a lot to offer, just need to find a comparable job. Any specifics would be greatly welcomed.

Ask again after the NATO summit. I'm not sure anyone on here wants to risk providing easy info to protesters (not saying you're doing that, just that the timing is poor).

Really? You think protestors can't find that info? They're as resourceful as anyone else, and I'm certain I could ascertain that info in a couple hours research.

Goldman Sachs has a few floors in the building which i work in, but I'm not sure exactly what they do specifically at this location.

Anyway, I believe Deutsche Bank is fairly large here as well..

All the important investment bankers, from throughout the world, have a presence in Chicago. Some larger than others. A search of the www will identify them.

The majority of the individuals in investment banking who work out of Chicago offices are in two broad categories.

The larger category is those involved in the operational aspects of trading of financial derivatives, where proximately to the markets and direct oversight of the low-latency trading systems is key.

The smaller category includes those in the "client intensive" part of the business that involves contact with those that utilize the bond underwriting, securities creation, business valuation and private equity placement parts of investment banking. Globally Chicago is a bug hub for those things, right up their with London, Hong Kong, NY, etc...

Unlike some of those cities there are far fewer "support and bank office" needs so you don't see as many whole buildings named for their IB tenants unless they are sorta using Chicago as their "lead US office"...

Chet Everett's answer is the best one. Most IB have offices here but not a lot of employees outside of derivatives and marketing. If you want to pursue a fast-track career in IB with lots of opportunities at different firms, you need to go to New York, London, Hong Kong, or maybe a few other places, not Chicago. If you have a job offer here that's another story. Good luck.
