Southport has baby strollers, but tons of twenty somethings. Its the nicest part of lakeview. Southport ave has lots of bars, awesome restaurants, less kids from the suburbs visiting on weekends to be obnoxious, and plenty of side streets to run on. All the OP has to do is walk up and down southport, up and down clark, and then that will tell you all you need to know.

I just want to throw another vote in for Southport Corridor. My younger sister (27) lives there and I love walking down Southport to get to her place. I actually live in a little neighborhood called "Wrigleyville Denial." Basically my husband and I have determined that we are technically 3 houses from the true Wrigleyville border. But it's a fantastic area and not loud or rowdy at all (we're near Kenmore/Grace).

Really, with your budget you can find a cute 1 bedroom in any of these areas. I just like Southport Corridor because the shopping for us ladies is much, much better (many boutiques, Anthropologie, nail salons, etc). And it's very, very safe.
