Pabst Blue Ribbon or the Chicago Cubs?

My vote is going to PBR. Why?

Well, as far as I can tell PBR still hangs it's hat on a ribbon it won in 1893.

Things have changed since then.

For example: People learned how to fly with an airplane.

I don't see Boeing touting the Wright Brother's plane as something that is a positive addition in their fleet of aircrafts. In fact, I would think Boeing would take a huge hit in respectability if they tried to boost their sales and ridership by rolling out a Wright Brothers airplane in 2013.

Get over it Pabst! Winning the "Best Of" title in an era when people used to S------- outside in a tiny wooden house is not something, to me at least, that should be a bragging right in the 21ST CENTURY.

It would be like prefacing every Cubs game introduction with a, "...And now, lets give it up for the World Champs... THE CHICAGO CUBSSSS!!!!!!!!!"

The Cubs have enough sense to not claim a 100+ year-old achievement as relevant to today's world.

What say you?

Sidenote: This thread was brought about by the news of this:

Pabst: Beer maker Pabst moving to Los Angeles - Los Angeles Times

And while I am a fan of the Cubs (first major league game I attended), I have indulged in a PBR from time to time. Simply for the cost. Sometimes Icehouse is not available at the store I happen (who am I kidding? Stumble) into, and I have to settle for PBR.

I like PBR just fine. It's what I like to call a maintenance beer. I love a variety of micro/craft brews, but if I drink those all night, I feel bloated, (Not to mention broke) and sometimes with the high alcohol content, I get more impaired that I would like (Walking home from South Logan Square to Humboldt Park, one should have most of their wits about them)
So anyways, I don't mind spacing a PBR, an Old Style, or an Olympia or somesuch in between the high end beers, it's easier on the gut, the buzz and the pocketbook.

(None of the answers in your poll are applicable to me)

Loyola touts its 1963 NCAA victory at its Red Line stop. That really is getting old.

I knew many Hillbillys who drank it because they liked it.

Yeah leave PBR, Blatz, Schlitz, Old Milwaukee, Schaffers and Icehouse alone. I love my "retro" or "crappy" beers. I will argue that PBR is not a bad beer at all, you want a horrible tasting beer try Budweiser. Nothing says white trash hick like a can of Budweiser or yuppie-fied white trash hick like Bud light does. As far as the cubs goes, you have to realize this and many years to come are rebuilding years and if you have just a little more patience I'm am pretty sure the new cubs will have multiple rings in a short span of a few years. Just enjoy MLB baseball and the Wrigley experience of fans not knowing who's winning or what inning it is or how many out there are and be patient, soon the northsiders will have a world championship ring. Let's put it this way, if I was a betting man and I am I would put more money on the Cubs winning a World Series in my lifetime before the Brewers will. -Signed Brewers fan

the worst beer that exists is by far Coors Light. No question.

There's nothing wrong with PBR at all. Every so often, you can catch a special at Jewel and get a case of 30 for $9.99.

Also, you can get a PBR tallboy and a shot for $5 at a few Wicker Park bars during wicker park fest. Can't beat that!

I don't like PBR or the Cubs, or baseball in general. I will drink PBR on a very rare occasion, for instance if I see that it is a dollar at the bar, and I would like to get a hefty buzz going and only spend 5 dollars.
