That's impossible to answer because the politicians would get heat from the voters, cries of facism\racism, harassment, profiling and so forth.

It's the same with keeping the kids in school and having them study and graduate when you have NO LEVERAGE to make the kid show up for class, study and put forth any effort.

That's why the politicians blame things like "guns" and "gangs" because those are the vague boogeymen. The tools and the symptoms of the underlying problem which is that kids are not being brought up right, people not being held accountable for their actions and so forth.

Most people getting shot are bangers or hanging out with bangers. SunTimes was quoting 80% of shootings are gang related.

I do agree that in some cases it's spilled over but for the most part the criminals know the rules and what will get them heat from the CPD.

We'd need a ridiculous number of prisons built to fully stop gangs, way too many gangbangers in Chicago.

My biggest beef with Rahm is putting extra resources in high crime areas and taking them from the low crime areas. It then becomes only a matter of time before the low crime areas see an increase in crime. Criminals are criminals, they aren't going to stop committing crimes because there are more police around, they'll find somewhere else to go and commit their crimes. Why should the low crime areas suffer when these criminals start preying on those communities?

Again, I agree. I just find it funny, that people think hiring more police is going to stop the gangs. You would need a small army and a police state.
