Portland is slightly more expensive than Chicago.
and likely to get worse, as they have a moratorium on development outside the borders, right?

Last weekend I was hanging out in front of Revolution Brewing with some friends and saying that Logan Square isn't THAT much of a hipster haven. Then a guy with mutton chops rode up on a unicycle and asked me if I had any rolling papers. True story.

Default I dunno if it would be...

A) ...funnier if this were not true

OR

B) ...less sad if it were just a joke

BOTH?!

Where do these people come from? Can we do anything to make them less obnoxious?

...
The development boundaries in Oregon are somewhat of a joke, to be honest. They get expanded fairly frequently, and they don't force particularly dense development. The LA region is still denser than Portland ...

I take it the Southport corridor (Music Box Theatre vicinity) isn't "hip" anymore? I don't know what you'd call this - West Wrigleyville? It seemed kinda 'hip' (in the pejorative sense) back in the '90s...

I rarely ever see hipsters over on southport these days; it seems it is mostly yuppie-ish, as well as trending older (late 30's with strollers). But I do see young people there all the time too; especially in the Jewel grocery store.

I think it's funny because it happened, and I don't think it's sad or obnoxious at all.

Wow. As someone who didn't live here yet in the 90's (and hadn't even visited), I can't imagine any part of Lakeview being anything but yuppie, let alone anything that close to Wrigley. I wish I could take a time machine to visit.

How much time do you spend in Logan Square? Probably not enough to worry about hipster fatigue, I'm guessing.

I do see yuppies dressing up like hipsters quite often these days. I guess they can turn their irony on for the weekend when it suits them.
