Chicagoist clearly isn't here to learn. You will be here all night going in circles about nothing. their thing is Chicago isn't racist regardless of unemployment statistics, segregation index, unfair business practices by the city and some has brought up statistics on disparity in incomes. This individual apparently has never lived in a place where people live work and do business together nor does he or she value that type of community.

Clearly. I let people like that suck me in sometimes. I'm working on it.

I lived and was raised in one of the most diverse neighborhoods. On my block we had Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Romanians, Indians, Colombians, Filipinos, Blacks, Koreans, and your regular "white American". It was tight knit block and community. We all worked together, so I do know how people live and work together of different backgrounds. I value community. I have done a lot of community work in Humboldt Park, Austin and in Logan Square. Currently I help mentor and volunteer with teenagers at Erie House, mostly at risk of Latino descent and Black teens as well. So please don't say I don't value community.

So we can disagree that is fine but show some more respect, as you really don't know me. I have never taken it to a personal level with you all. However, just cause I disagree with you all on my views it seems like it then gives you permission to make it personal.

That depends on whether or not you consider Milwaukee, WI to be an area on the North side.

Or Evanston, IL which is just north of Chi and is 17% black (and actually gets CTA service for some reason).

"For some reason" when the red line doesn't even go south of 95th - much less all the way to Dolton.

There are plenty of them. Race will always come up in a Chicago thread that is about neighborhoods. Chicago is racially motivated.

Not always. I have seen plenty of neighborhoods threads where it doesn't into racism arguments. Actually most don't.

The suburb is indeed the natural habitat of the yuppie - that's kind of the point/problem, they move into the City and try to remake it into a suburb.
