A lifetime of knowledge of the area is my basis.

You are entitled to your opinion and I am with mine.

Avengerfire,

I was looking for some basis, i.e., facts to support your opinion. To simply state an opinion without some kind of foundation/reasons for it is not very helpful.

Everytime I try to post crime stats people say stats mean nothing. So what else can I go off of?

I for one know better than to think crime stats don't mean anything.

So thats why is usually post about my experience about areas and people try to shrug that off too.

For most areas in Chicago the violent crime stats mirror the actual safety of the area however.

I've lived all over the US. Crime stats go hand in hand with how safe an area is.

West Lakeview and Roscoe Village for sure. Lincoln Park... not really.
Norwood Park, sure. Lincoln Square, sure.

According to the Chicago Police Dept.'s CLEAR Map statistics, there are only 12 other Wards with lower crime rates than the 36th ward (out of 50 total wards). My search criteria included index crimes in the past year. Galewood is a large part of the 36th ward. It is important to note that Galewood is partly surrounded by other wards ranking in the top 12.

Belmont Cragin is going down like a 2 ton rock dropped into Lake Michigan. Austin and Humboldt Park are part of the safest in Chicago? Surely you jest.

Galewood is by no means a large part of the 36th ward. Have a map of your own ward?

You skewed the stats by going by ward instead of community area.

Trying to sell your house huh?
