It's really one of my favorite months weatherwise... usually nice dry warm ( in the sun) days and crisp nights ..Plus, we start getting a few gray, windy, chilly days as a message of what's coming .. It's the 'leaf change' month as well , moving from the far burbs early in the month to the lakefront areas later in the month , so it's really quite a display of color ..

I agree October is one of the best months. It's transition from summer to winter, but fall is much less "severe" than spring.

October is actually a fairly stable month. Normally it feels warmer than spring because there are no chilly lake winds, and the temps don't seem to be as bi-polar. If you want to bet on anything, but on chilly nights, and highs around 50-70. Just bring a jacket, but like people said, snow would be very rare, and COLD temps where you need a heavy coat aren't quite upon us in October.

Hell, the first week of November last year was still in the 70's. Then.....well we won't talk about what happened after that...

And don't forget you're heading to shopping central. I take empty suitcases and buy what I need once I'm there. It's cheaper than California. Have a great trip

An October to remember. The whole month has almost been a 2nd September in some ways.

This year I realized there's no point in lamenting hot summers, because when it's a hot summer, fall often ends up being the summer I wish we'd had. So either we get the summer I want and a cold miserable fall (like last year), or we get a hot miserable summer and a nice mild fall (like this year).
