I went to a Jesse Jackson Jr speech(Not the biggest Fan of him) but he made a good point, why does the Northside get EVERYTHING? Im a Southsider you grew up in the projects(Which I bet most of you have no clue about), I want to see more growth and development down south. A neighborhood will never get better if you dont put any opportunity into it.

It's true that northsiders are very annoying with their attitude that they are the only side of town. Even a burger flipper will turn his nose up at you if you tell him that you lieve on the south or west sides. That being said, the north side is the most urban and diverse side of town with the best food. It is what it is.

I would love to see more development on the south side but I won't hold my breath.

But nah.
It's because most of the lakefront northside (I'm not gonna clump all the northside as one cus transplants are for the most part still wary of the northside west of western) is a place where transplants congregate.
And the people who come to city data are not really Chicagoans. IT's people who are going to move here. So that's why the northside lakefront is brought up a lot. Because that's where most of them live. The northside lakefront area gets a lot of things because it's many different people from different parts who have different tastes.

And why doesn't the southside get more stuff? Because they don't want it.
The ghetto area I live in got a supermarket for the first time in like 20 years and it didn't last a year.
A gamestop isn't gonna survive in the hood.
A starbucks isn't gonna survive there
A sandwich shop isn't.
A doggy spa isn't gonna survive there.

There's no point. If there WAS a big improvement it'd probably be due to the ghetto people leaving the area aka gentrification
I agree with this post 100Percent. The hood vaalues nothing & they don't eserve anything.

The premise of this thread isn't even true, though. Do people come on here talking about Edison Park, Cragin, Montclare any more than they do Woodlawn or Lawndale?

Most of the conversation centers around neighborhoods closer to the city center or the lake for obvious reasons.

Personally I would like to see all parts of Chicago prosper and enjoy the good fortunes of the city, instead of complaining about the northside, I would be more interested in hearing how the city can reduce crime, improve education, and improve job developments and housing developments for the southside. It makes no sense not to have healthy neighborhoods all along the redline and throughout much of that area.

Is the Westside as dirty & poor as the Southside? Its seems the Southside has been the cities toilet for a few decades now.

Don't let your parties go past midnight and if they do, move them inside. Get a group of neighbors together and pick up trash. Cut your lawn once a week. Quickly clean graffiti from your garage and don't leave the outline there. Call police when kids gather on the corner. It'll let 'em know you're watching them. If people would do these little things, which are free, it would make some of these areas 1,000 times better, and maybe then people would consider more neighborhoods in the City as viable alternatives.
You could do all this crap (that other people should be doing, but don't) or else move. My parents tried to keep their neighborhood from turning into a hellhole 40 years ago but after the people across the street from them were beaten up and tied up in their own home by robbers, they moved to a safe area.
