Starting at UofC-- how is Near East Side?

If the nightlife aspect is more important to you, go with Lincoln Park (or River North, but frankly the tourists would start to annoy me right quick). If the ease of your commute is most important, go with the South Loop. There isn't much benefit to a building like Aqua IMO.

The area which this is true is mostly going north and is limited to The Loop and Streeterville/Gold Coast in the evening, and the I-55 junction area, but it isn't all bad between there. There's pockets of OKness. Going south it's not as bad in the morning except a few pockets in those areas and around I-55 junction. North of the Division, it's not bad. I have never once stopped on LSD north of Division. I used to ride in a cab almost everyday for a long, long time going both directions at many hours of the day. Yeah, going north is not good for the 'downtown' areas for a little bit, but after that it's not bad at all, even when there's cars on the road you can still go at a good speed.
