****** Seriously? We were out of town for 3 weeks during the renewal period and I forgot to grab one when I got back. I saw the amount for $200 and couldn't believe it was accurate so I checked. Yup. $200. Plus the cost of buying another sticker obviously. Just ridiculous.

Having a car here is brutal if all your documentation isn't in place and/or you don't have off-street parking.

You may have a chance to contest and win if it you have a documented proof that you have just moved in within 30 days at the time you got the ticket. There is 30 day grace period from the time you move in. If you moved in for a new job, it could be easy.

Yeah the fine is crazy high but at least it won't go into your driving record.

Ouch! Apparently the fine has gone up since I got hit with it a couple years ago. What was stupid was I had my new city sticker, but out of forgetfulness (or laziness) I just hadn't torn the old one off and affixed the new one yet.

I empathize!

Yup..they increased the fine 2 or 3 years ago, and also increased the fee for SUVs, etc ..

not only do they charge the late fee, you get a ticket for not having one on time, and it really adds up.. happened to me, its awful... could have cost $75 but then turned into like 3 times as expensive, just for being late.

I think the answer is - dont wait till the very last minute. write down a reminder every year on a big calendar or somewhere we would see it. paying that $200 i bet you wont ever forget again. Sheesh the things we could do with that $200 rather than pay Crook County.

Speaking of which, i ran a red light camera and THAT is a muther-effer too. Those are also very expensive tickets.

That's all city, has nothing to do with Cook County.
