I consume/buy soda made in Mexico, particularly the Jarritos brand in bottles, because they contain sugar, not high fructose korn syrup. Usually I can get these at Mexican grocery stores (sometimes at regular stores as well). Anyone know of some possibilities for Mexican grocery stores or shops in downtown Chicago or close by - that I can check out? Street addresses as well !

I bet you could probably find it at some convenience stores in the Loop. For Mexican grocery stores your best bet would be to take the Blue line in either direction, once you get out around Logan Sq. or Little Village/Pilsen areas you won't be able to go for a block without being able to buy a Jarritos. If sugar is your main requirement Mexican Coke is actually pretty easy to find around the city, even Costco sells it.

Heading North on the Blue Line there are a number of Mexican grocery stores. Around the Division stop - Carniceria Guanajuado, 1436 North Ashland Ave. is a good one. There is also a Danny's pretty close to the Western stop - 2140 North Western Ave.

If you're driving just search for the nearest Tony's, they should have it.

And if you just want to buy individual bottles, almost every non-fancy mexican place I've ever seen in the city sells Jarritos.

I'd just check small-time convenience stores near you. The bottles are so heavy that you probably don't want to carry them very far.

I'd be surprised if Potash Bros didn't carry it.

All that said, if you're health-conscious enough to want to consume regular sugar instead of HFCS, you should be health conscious enough to not want to consume things with added sugar at all. The impact to health of any sort of added sugar is greater than the difference in health impact between regular sugar and HFCS (if there is any, which I personally don't think there is).

I feel like I've seen those all over the place. Even some run-of-the-mill grocery stores and convenience stores will have Jarritos.

Right. Just check the ethnic foods aisle at your local Jewel. You'll find Jarritos, Topochico, and often Sangria Señorial as well.
