On that note, is there a reason why there isn't much electronic billboards/ flashing signs in Chicago a la Times Square/Vegas Strip? Is there a regulation against that?

There's been talk about it. Not sure if it'll ever happen, but I wouldn't care either way if there was or wasn't.

I believe so, although there is something in the works to add more electronic signage, but it wouldn't be like Times Square at all.

This seems a bit harsh.

This thread is kind of ignorant if you ask me. So now all cities need to be like NYC? Why does Chicago need an area that is like Times Square? Why does it need a Central Park? The subject of this thread is pretty terrible. Cities come in different forms, anyone expecting them to come in a standard form, a la NYC style, is making ignorant judgements.

We don't have one and don't want one. There are passable copies of Times Square in every large Chinese and Japanese city and in Las Vegas. They can keep 'em.

I think a lot of people still don't know how great Chicago is... but it's slowly getting it's fame now. I can tell you that because I was was one of those people just two years ago that probably didn't know squat about this city and how great it really is.

From a tourist perspective that ideal spot would be Mag Mile and/or The Loop

Times Square is NOT the center of activity in New York.

The city is much better than that!
