No "trolling" here. Just curiosity. I'm not even disagreeing with you, just asking for, viewing, and interpreting the data.
Sorry, my apologies.

Been a bit stressed out due to the strike, I should really just stop reading so much about it.

And the downtown area may be reporting more thefts and crime because there are more stores to rob, and more people shopping to be able to rob.

Exactly. 73% of the crimes were related to theft. Only a few small percentage had to do with robbery off the street. There were a few battery/simple assault, some of which were at bars, some on the sidewalk (small percentage of all the crimes).

Is that higher than usual? The "article" doesn't give any context.

I think a lot of Lake View falls into this area.

Not much change either way over the last few years.

I wonder how this compares to places like Naperville and other areas of the country that claim to be safe like springfield mo.

I don't know, it doesn't seem that strange. Lake View has like 100,000 inhabitants and gets a lot of tourists and suburban visitors. I'll let you look into it and report back.

There were only 2 robberies. The vast majority were non-violent thefts off the street (probably bikes) and from businesses (many from bars/taverns). Doesn't seem too unusual to me at all.
