Right. I think they're set for demolition fairly soon right? Should be interesting. I like the design of the new proposed skyscraper there. Not bad at all. Hopefully GOOD skyscrapers will be built too, not boring ones.

I don't think they are demolishing much if anything. They are using the exisitng structure to complete the apartment tower.

Nope, they are reusing it. Its only going to be 59 stories though and its going to be all rental units. No condo's or hotel.

Seriously. I had no idea. So The Loop was presumably full of tall buildings, then immediately across the river there was nothing?

Here is a good shot of what the Near Northside looked like before the Marina Towers were built.

lol. That's of Logan Square, which is 5.5 - 6 miles from Marina Towers. The areas in question are not shown or even close in that picture. The area in the picture still looks similar-ish today.

I came across this film from the 1940s (I think):

View 3:50 for the skyline.

Not according to people on this forum:

CHICAGO | 111 West Wacker (former Waterview site) | 630 FT | 59 floors - Page 37 - SkyscraperPage Forum

They have brought up Demo/Demolition quite a bit. They might not be demolishing the entire thing, but from the talks of it, they are doing some.
