When I went to school at UIC, I used to park my car on Van Buren b/w Halsted and Racine. Never had a problem

Are you planning this for an everyday or 5 day/week thing or what?

Doesn't help that the Target just opened ..even though they have some parking .. Free parking in the West Loop , even as one heads west in the area you're looking in, will be a challenge .. and there's nothing east of the Expressway approaching 'free' ...

Ok, how about up to a 2 mile walk , surely there must be some free parking still left somewhere?? I used to park near 16'th st and Clark. But now they are building a new Marianos and eaten up half the free parking there.

Do you live in an area with the metra? If so, why drive? Park your car at a metra station and ride right into the Loop.

That's the area I was going to suggest, roughly bound by Roosevelt on the north, 18th to the South (or even Cermak since you're now willing to go two miles), Clark to the west, and LSD to the east. If you search enough you should be able to find something in there somewhere. Maybe along Indiana?

Also, two miles gets you into the Northeast corner of Pilsen. Try along 16th by the viaduct separating Pilsen from University Village.

Since you mentioned parking by 16th & Clark, the east side of Wabash (at least between 18th and 16th that I've noticed) is non-metered parking. Zoned area during games though. Also, meters are free south of 18th Street along Michigan Avenue after 6p.
