Hello folks,
We're a family with 2 small kids(under 4) having a flight stopover next month at the O'Hare airport. We're reaching 1am and our connecting flight is 7.30 the next morning, so we're thinking of booking a hotel to crash for 4-5 hours. Any recommendations/advice from the wise and experienced folks out here?
Thanks

Default Little kids -- aim for convenience over all else!

Chicago O'hare has a Hilton directly opposite THE TERMINAL CONCOURSE -- no need to get in a shuttle or taxi at 1AM or worry the next AM. Simply walk.

Not cheap, but worth the piece of mind and chance to clean up.

And if you decide price is more important, I would just Hotwire/Priceline a hotel -- O'Hare is its own category -- and you should be able to get something pretty cheap.

Try Radisson Hotel Chicago O'Hare, free 24 hr shuttle to/from airport. Has more eatery options nearby/ walking distance.

Also, Hampton Inn O'Hare, free 24 hour shuttle (provided by Thrifty) as well and free breakfast and indoor pool.

Won't be time for an indoor pool between arrival at 1AM and flight at 7AM. Probably gonna be hard pressed to get anything other than fast food too...

I know you've probably already realized, but this is a terrible plan. Do you actually land at 1am, and then have to wait for your bags at baggage claim? So even staying at the Hilton that's inside O'Hare, you still won't be in your room until 2am.

Don't even CONSIDER a hotel that requires a shuttle... That will add unnecessary additional time.

I don't know if anything is open inside O'Hare to eat at that hour, so please pack and bring your own food.

The latest you can get up the next day would be 6am, out of the hotel by 6:30. So that gives you 4 hours or less to actually sleep. With 2 kids under 4YO. What a nightmare, I do wish you the best, and hope your first flight isn't delayed!

Haha, yes..these are reward travel bookings and we're using them to travel almost free to visit 2 family friends living either ends of Indiana. Unfortunately this is the best flight we could get for the points we have. The elder one is a tight-sleeper but the infant is a rabblerouser so it's going to be bit of an adventure
