Why the **** are we talking about models?

Anyway, no Chicago isn't dead, it's just a different kind of night life than the Beautiful People scene you apparently define as a decent night life. Sure, there are some clubs with dress codes where there's a line to get in and other silliness of the sort, but on the whole, Chicago's bar/club scene is a little more laid back and down to Earth than whatever music videos you're getting your ideas from what clubs are supposed to be like from. Which is a good thing if you ask me. There's some of what you're looking for out there in this city, but in my experiences (which might not mean much), when Chicagoans go out they are much more concerned with getting properly drunk than they are finding a proper mini skirt. God bless this town.

Give me a stealthily sexy woman who is enjoying a low-key night at the bar laughing and playing trivia or listening to jazz over a club full of women whose only purpose in life is to be seen looking as hot as possible at the club every weekend. What good are the latter to you, anyway? (Louis CK has a funny bit about them, if you haven't heard it.) Even if they'll talk to you, do you really want them to? Even if you endure the "conversation", you can only take one of them home at the end of the night (unless you're Hugh Hefner) so what good is the whole club full of them? If you just want to stare at a variety of them, there are websites for that.

Anyway, I share the disdain for these types of establishments. I love dancing, but I can't stand people at most clubs. They're incredibly fake and stupid and have no depth about them whatsoever. As much as I love sports, there's only so much fanaticism I can take from people too. It's good to talk about other things too. It's hilarious because whenever my current girlfriend's friends want to go out to some club, I find the lamest excuse not to go. I can't stand 99% of those places.

I have a friend like that. Always had to find an excuse not to go.

Im more of a dive bar/pub/lounge/live music/house party type guy. Great beers, great music, great conversation, etc.

I just find value in different things I guess.

This must take the cake as stupidest and most useless thread ever on this board.

We're seriously having a discussion based upon some sort of critique of Chicago for perhaps not having enough of some ideal sort of whip smart and also gorgeous and nice/interesting/non-bi*chy women? What?

Obviously recommendations for quality night life locations are relevant, but the stuff that people are currently on about is wholly ridiculous.

Chicago is one of the best cities in the US for nightlife.

Unquestionably top 10. Certainly top 5, IMO. (NYC, Chicago, LA, Las Vegas, Miami)
