Hello,
I was planning a trip to South America in the next year. I was hoping to go to Peru, Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay. I was wondering if any travelers here can tell me the cheapest times to fly to South America.......or more specifically Lima, or Buenos Aries, or Santiago, or Montevideo from O'Hare. From my travels to Europe, Paris is ausually the cheapest from ORD......so is there a South American airport/city that is usually the cheapest from ORD. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

You could just look it up on a site like kayak.com, hipmunk.com or whatever. But a lot of flights to South America in the US go through Miami first, or sometimes Dallas, Los Angeles, etc. There are some direct flights from Chicago sometimes (not much), but usually you have to do a connecting one.

For example, on American Airlines, you'd have to go to Dallas, Miami, or New York (JFK) to get to Buenos Aires.

Or you can fly Copa Airlines to Panama City and connect to South America there as well.

agree 100%

many good deals will be from Chicago to S. America via Miami
but not all flights go thru Miami it really depends on the destination city
check out expedia.com and TACA Airlines Official Site

I'm pretty sure you don't really care what is "usually the cheapest," but do care what is actually the cheapest for the timeframe you want to fly.

For that, keep checking travel websites.
