I'm 23 years old from Kentucky. I have lived here all of my life, mostly in a small town of about 5,000 people. I moved to Lexington to get away from small town life, but I found that Lexington is not really a place to learn things or see things, because downtown life is non-existant other than bankers, etc.

I have been a college drop-in for many years, but I have never finished.

I do not know a lot about how things are in Chicago.
All that I really know is that I think I'd like to live there.

The plan is to get a job, move there, and eventually trickle back into college classes, whether it be a little at a time or get back in full-time.

My questions are....

1)What kind of a job can I get with a high school diploma, some college credits, and 8 years of retail experience (including lower management)?

2)Should I look for a roommate or will I be able to pay rent with the job I am able to get?

and, last but not least...

3)Can I make it in Chicago with just a high school diploma?

You can still get a job with a high school diploma and some natural savvy, just present your resume and yourself like you really want the job. My advice is to apply to: the CTA, City of Chicago, any temporary agency. The temp agency will have the largest listing of "entry level" positions in the City. Another idea is to check the college employment bulletin boards. Good luck and welcome!
