Is this in some bad neighborhood? * NICE STUDIO FOR RENT ONLY $600/MONTH. *

I was trying to see how cheap you can go living in Chicago downtown.

What about here, is it dangerous? http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/apa/3481709301.html (South Chicago)

That's not a real address, so we don't know what the neighborhood is.

But, there are some super small stuidos in Lincoln Park (2-300 ft^2) if you're looking to be near downtown on the cheap.

How much do those small studios in Lincoln Park cost? Is it safe?

Same ballpark of price. Safe as you'll find without going to the burbs and still close to the el and downtown.

Only thing I'd say worth mentioning is that while some people dislike having a radiator heating system, the plus is that the landlord pays for heat.

It looks like the first one based on the zip is on the far west side, so: yes, probably a terrible neighborhood.

The next one is in South Chicago which is also a dangerous neighborhood.

Geographically neither is anywhere close to downtown.

I would do some research and refocus your question as you appear to literally be "all over the map" here.

I think I'd even prefer radiator heat. It's supposed to be much safer/better for your health.

If you own a house and get radiators with forced air, it really is the Cadillac of heating systems.

Most people's complaints stem from less of delivery method, and more with adjustments and settings.
Either the LL turns it on too long after it's gotten cold, or you can't adjust it and it's 140 degrees in your place and the windows are open. (which doesn't make sense why they wouldn't fix it, that's a waste of money)

8.4 miles could be Oak Park which is a suburb and pretty safe. Or it could be Austin which isn't so safe.

Is Lincoln Park safe? Yes, it's one of the safest neighborhoods in Chicago. My ex gf used to have a studio in Lincoln Park for like $800/month. Technically you could find a studio in Gold Coast for that amount of money. Actually I have a friend paying $775/month for his near LaSalle and Maple. It's not high luxury but it's not TERRIBLE.
