After what happened today, what are we going to do now? At my sons school, even though the doors are locked, it is very easy to get in. All you have to do is push a door bell and you get let in. I went to his school yesterday, was let in by some woman who does not know me. It scares me. They have one security guard but he can't be everywhere all the time. Should they install metall detector at all schools. Should they arm the security guards?

Apparently it does not matter where in the country you are, even the safest town or city in the country, this can happen anywhere.

Statics show that no matter the recent events that schools are one of the safest places to be. And will share this that a friend shared with me, i may make you not wanna see your doctor..

I'm cancelling all doctor appointments.
Accidental Deaths
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.

Now think about this:
Guns
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million)
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188
Statistics courtesy of FBI

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT
Almost everyone has at least one doctor. This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!!!

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

Out of concern for the public at large, We withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

...

Funny how it leaves out how many lives are saved by doctors vs. gun owners.

Also sort of suspicious that it evidently doesn't consider suicides by gun to be worth including as avoidable gun deaths (since gun suicides are the most lethal method by a wide margin, even if people tried a different method, more people would survive).

Lets not over react. How many schools are there in the US? ALOT! It is a rare occurrence. Your kid is more likely to die on the car ride to school. How many kids died outside of schools this year?? Stop freaking out people.

I guess if you had to you could lock them in their bedrooms until they are 18.

Do you have small kids? After something like this, most parents, are very worried about their kids school situation. You say schools are safe. Twenty 6 year olds murdered in their safe school. No place is safe.
Please don't be rude about it. This is not the time for it.

Yes, but keep things in perspective. How many children are in schools nationwide? And out of all those kids, what is the probability that they will be shot with a gun at school? This is a rare occurrence, which is why the nation is freaking out. It's probably less likely they will die that way than almost any other way. Like I just said, they are more likely to die from the ride to school or some other random way than a school shooting.
