Are there any homeless shelters where:

1) you don't have to worry about other people touching you when you are sleeping (I worry about this because if you sleep together in a big large room with several other people, somebody might wake up early and prowl about trying to touch other people)

2) has a computer room for internet access

3) there are no bed bugs?

Lincoln Park Community Shelter, but it basically has a waiting list and only about 35-40 people get to stay there. I volunteer there from time to time, and they have computers, tv, etc. Don't know about the sleeping quarters and what not, but it seems like they only let people in there who are not violent and what not. They are dedicated to helping people back on their feet by giving them free meals (cooked by volunteers) and various education they can use in jobs (i.e. Microsoft Office training).

Thank you. How long is the waiting list?

I am posting a search engine to help with contact info etc. I would say the two best shelters that I worked with in Chicagoland were the Breakthrough Shelter in Garfield Park and Hilda's Place in Evanston. Breakthrough is in a terrible neighborhood, but they do a good job running the place. Hilda's biggest draw is that it is in eEvanston and much safer. I haven't worked with these places for a few years......so I can't comment on wating lists etc. Good luck.
