Many thanks to everyone for your responses - this is a great list for me to work off of. I'll check out as many as I can online, see which ones are clumped together and then have a lot of fun bouncing between as many as possible.

If anyone new to the thread wants to nominate another bar or add a recommendation to one that has already been mentioned then go right ahead!

Thanks again,
Jax

Hi ChiGuy2.5, I arrive in Chicago on the afternoon of Monday 8 April and leave late afternoon on Thursday 11 April. I'll be checking bars out on the Monday to Wednesday nights. If those dates ring any bells for you or anyone else re special events then I'd love to hear! Otherwise I'll keep my eyes peeled on Chicago websites in the weeks leading up to my visit.

I haven't hit the bars in years, and can't recommend specific places any more, but I was always partial to the strip on Lincoln Ave, between Webster and Wrightwood, and the DePaul area in general. Wrigleyville is worth visiting. I can't say I never had a good time in Wicker Park or Bucktown, but they've never been near the top of my list.

A little outside of the area OP specified, I always enjoyed the Rush/State/Division area. There also used to be a couple places I liked around Kingsbury and Blackhawk.

Feels like drinking inside of a Chili's. This is one of those places that only exists because of its proximity to the L.
