Toronto’s population overtakes Chicago | Toronto Star

Just curious as to Chicagoans' take on this. I personally don't think it means all that much considering the population in the city being at a slow growth from the last census and Toronto lingering for a while as the 5th largest in N.A.

Chicago MSA is still a decent deal bigger so it doesn't matter. We are friendly cities anyway. Rankings don't matter with this.

If politicians in this country want to emulate the policies of our neighbors to the north they could probably learn a lot.

The metropolitan area of Chicago is still quite a bit larger than Toronto. I mean, by city population Indianapolis is larger than Boston. Does that fact therefore lessen Boston's importance?

I agree, a national health care system would be a good start.

To save money, didn't Canada impose the merging of municipalities? Was this part of Toronto's growth? What would Chicago's population be like annexing Evanston, Oak Park, Lincolnwood Skokie, Harwood height, Norridge and Rosemont? Again, MSA's mean more to me than just city populations.
