The rickets, Wrigley field, Wrigleyville and just that they are poorly managed they could go to Biloxy Mississippi as far as I'm concerned
In what way would this change be beneficial for Chicago?

From a monetary stand point it wouldn't. Personally, I hate the stadium and the neighborhood and the owners and the team. I don't understand the loyalty of a team that doesn't win with a raggedy stadium where you have a winning team on the other side of the city with a new stadium that isnt supported. Seems backwards to me.

It's called being a sports fan. One day it'll pay off and it will be like nothing any other sports fan in any sport in this country will ever feel because the Cubs haven't won in generations... in one century.

You can hate the stadium, but to most people in MLB outside of Cubs fans, it's still regarded as a top 5 ballpark along with Fenway. It's one of the two baseball roots left. People enjoy Wrigleyville. The area around US Cellular isn't even half as a good. Fans of baseball wouldn't agree with moving it elsewhere either because of Wrigley's history.

White Sox fans are the only fans in this city that aren't loyal to their team regardless of winning/losing.

I'm guessing that Rosemont politicians aren't all that interested in the White Sox moving uptown; for one thing, they wouldn't be the South Siders anymore...

So it's not that this would be beneficial for Chicago, or that Chicago needs a change period, it's that you personally hate the stadium and therefore the team should move. Well, that's rational. Never mind it would be a tremendous economic detriment to the city -- as long as YOU get what YOU want, hey, who cares.

As for the new stadium not being supported... guess what, the state owns it so the taxpayers get to "support" it whether they want to or not. At least that "raggedy" stadium on the other side of town pulls its own weight.

So you mean all of the drunks at Cubs games care so much about the Cubs and not just saying that they went there.

(Last sentence.)

In all seriousness, Wrigley Field and its location can't be beat, and are the whole reason most people go to Cubs games. The Cubs ownership certainly knows this. (Hence the reason they don't bother buying the makings of a winning team most years.) I have to imagine the civic leaders of Rosemont know this, too, so I can only assume they're doing this for publicity.

Maybe if the Cubs put together some kind of dynasty where they were a fall contender every year for several straight seasons, with at least a couple of World Series championships in the mix, they would acquire a hard core fan base of real baseball fans who cared about the team more than the stadium, and would go see them no matter where they played. Until then, Cubs games are where you go for a conveniently located historic stadium experience without worrying much about who is on the field. I'm not knocking it -- I enjoy it as much as the next guy. Let's not pretend that people would be lining up to see the Cubs at <insert random megacorporation name here> Generic Modern Stadium Surrounded By Parking Lots out in the 'burbs, though.

Apparently not, given the attendance numbers to winning percentage comparison. I consider it a bonus, but that's certainly not why I go to Wrigley. That wouldn't be a very solid gamble as a fan. When I want to see a good team with a good chance of winning, I go to Sox games. When I want a cool stadium experience and location I go to Cubs games.
