I lived at evergreen and leavitt for a year. I enjoyed the area very much. The only time I ever felt semi unsafe was on the 4th of July. There were a hundred people outside lighting big fireworks in the streets. I thought maybe it was a city thing since I was new to Chicago and just ignored it. Now that I have lived in the city for 3 years I have never seen anything like it again.

I have friends who are a bit further west in Humboldt Park, and we sat on their roof top one fourth of July not too many years ago... I thought I was going to die.

We get it, you're a cultured humble person who's not afraid of poor people, good for you . Trying a little hard? We are strangers on here after all.
