We visited Chicago over the last few days as my son has been looking at a small college outside of Chicago - but he had never seen the city itself.

What a fabulous town to visit; I loved the city, the food, the people, the shopping, the energy! I know my son loved it too. Everyone seemed friendly.

It seems like a really great place to live; though I'm sure that it has, like everywhere, it's drawbacks.

It's been years since I have been here but I was so impressed with everything; you guys have really got a great city.

Nope no drawbacks whatsoever. Heaven on earth. Everything is rosy here...

Glad you enjoyed your visit, hope things go well in college. May I ask what sort of tuition range the college is in?

It's pricey Chet. But they do offer a good amount of financial aid and scholarships so that helps. I'm hoping my son makes a decision by next week.

Good luck. From what I understand the various "grants" that most private schools make to keep themselves "full" often can drop total out-of-pocket costs to be pretty competitive with state schools which are recovering less and less "support" from general revenues...

This city is pretty great. I do have one qualm with it though: inter-neighborhood transit is quite a pain w/o a car and I've no interest in putting another car on Chicago streets for A) expensive (for me at least) B) Public transit gets me where I need to be efficiently C) Chicago drivers are... Yeah...
Overall, as a new resident/student in Chicago it's pretty impressive. This long winter does kind of suck though

I don't live in Chicago but it's my favorite city too. Can't wait to go back!

don't compliment the city too much, as you can see chet takes offense to it.
