Parking is decent. Depends what part you are in though, but overall not terrible.

If you can tolerate a roommate or two, the kind of 2 BR you can get for $1200-1400 and especially the kind of 3 BR you can get for $1800-2100 is going to be a lot nicer than the kind of studio you can get for $600-700 in neighborhoods near Lakeview.

I feel so new at this! its just coming from the southside the prices are much much cheaper! In garfield ridge/clearing area 700 gets you 2 bedrooms. Its still way to far considering im stuck in about 1 hour or more of parking lot traffic on the Kennedy, and Stevenson. I'm trying to eliminate the hassle of this long commute.

If you are looking at getting a roommate possibly, you might want to look at the Ravenswood area, maybe closer to North Center. It really depends on what kind of place you want. There are actually 2 bedrooms in that area for around $1000-1100/month but they aren't amazing...old. My girlfriend used to live there, at least last year her 2 bedroom was $1150/month. Although that was a little cheap for other places...average price might be $1300-$1500/month for a 2 bedroom in the area which is still kind of in your budget. Plus, Brown Line cuts through that area and it's not a crazy area or anything, but some cool stuff and easy access to other neighborhoods via the train.

Otherwise yeah, parts of Rogers Park or West Ridge perhaps...and $700/month for a 2 bedroom? I would love that...that's like what I paid when I lived in Iowa.

Illinois Genealogy Trails presents the "Community Area Map" for the City of Chicago
What the hell kind of map is this? According to it, Wicker Park and Bucktown don't even exist, and Logan Square is like a bajillion square miles. I know neighborhood definitions get kind of fuzzy, but I'm gonna guess most of us were thinking of something closer to this.

An accurate one. There are no official "Community Area"s named Wicker Park or Bucktown. They are a part of the West Town CA.

These are community areas. Wicker Park and Bucktown are both Neighborhoods, not community areas (neighborhoods contained within community areas). We use the term generally, but they're different in Chicago. Bucktown is also technically part of Logan Square while Wicker Park is part of West Town. Here:

Community areas in Chicago - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Example that you know...River North will not show up on the map..it's part of Near North Side. Not to be confused though, some neighborhoods have the same name as their community area they're in like Logan Square.

Actually Bucktown is a part of Logan Square, and Wicker Park is a part of West Town.
