In last week of March, I was able to book roundtrip AA ticket ORD<-->YYZ (Toronto) for $260 which flight took last week. Now Im looking at new fare with the same or greater amount of advance time and its $400+. Even if I take a look at December (least desirable month) the price goes close to $500!

p.s. Please stick to the topic, no reference to drive or other public transportation methods. This topic is about flight price changes.

Airline pricing is dynamic, its not an O'hare thing.

Yep, this is the case no matter where you fly in to or out of. It does seem to fluctuate more (and faster) these days than it used to, but it's not just O'Hare.

Another "it's not just ORD" response. And $260 is dirt cheap for Toronto from what I understand.

I am actually shocked how much it costs to fly to Toronto. I think it's worth it to just drive or take a train there (can you?). You can usually get to places like Miami at a much cheaper price than Toronto.

I think it has to do with taxes at the Toronto airport. At least that's what my Canadian friends are always complaining about.

$260 is dirt cheap to fly anywhere lately. Prices have been high across the board, both domestic and international, from what I've seen.

For international travel, I remember seeing flights for $700~ to London, not they are at $1000+ range.

Over $500 of the $1000 ORD LHR fare is taxes.

Sneaky Britons Now thats the tax without representation! I think its more in taxes than I have ever paid to my state. That makes Canadian airports look cheaper.

Anyway, I recently found some trends that if the flights you book on even in advance are almost full and have mostly cabin extra seats left, you pay more in ticket, not sure how much, about at least $100+ more both ways but it gets you extra legroom.
