So I don't get it...are you making a point regarding just tech manufacturing, traditional manufacturing, or traditional tech jobs...? From your first source:

"llinois added 3,400 tech jobs last year, an increase of 1.6 percent, outpacing the U.S. gain of 1.1 percent, according to the Cyberstates report from the TechAmerica Foundation, a tech trade association...llinois remains the largest source of jobs at technology companies in the Midwest with 209,776. That's up from 201,400 in 2010, when the state was still losing tech jobs. Michigan is the second-biggest in the Midwest with 170,525."

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Chet, I liked your posts better when they were about suburban school performance and the pros and cons of various suburbs. Can we get a more positive version of Chet back please?

In retrospect I suppose his old strategy of trying to get everyone to move to the suburbs was positive by comparison. When that failed, he turned to trying convince everyone they're going to lose their jobs. I can't wait to see what he'll try next. Maybe he'll cite a blog that says the city is going to fall into the lake. Anything to try to wipe the smiles off of those happy young urban-dwellers.

Exactly. I started a company this year and created 3 jobs. Nothing incredible, but I created a few tech jobs. How many jobs have you created Chet? I suspect you're slacking and creating no jobs at all because you're wasting your time whining about how the sky is falling. Whining and failing to create new jobs makes you a failure and un-American, I think you should be deported for not pulling your weight.

To be honest, I think that Chet's just against "irrational exuberance" ( shades of Greenspan)....

Like I said, he doesn't like happy people. All exuberance is irrational.
