Belmont/Clark on weekends. Lots of thugs coming by train to cause trouble, in what is a generally safe neighborhood at most times.

"wilding" attacks? I'd call that characterizatioin a bit melodramatic ... and vastly exaggerated/inaccurate.

There obviously isn't too much trouble being caused judging by the crime stats posted unless people aren't reporting crime.

Me too. Ridiculous, but hilarious.

All of this, times ten, and with a heavy dose of racism thrown in.

The "wilding" term actually comes from this case in NYC in 89'

The title of this thread makes me laugh.

Could we get a Streeterville version next? I think I saw a "wilding" in the form of someone dropping a Wendy's wrapper outside the hospital.

So, would you call CBS News "racist" for reporting facts about crime in the city? They have run reports on street crime and wildings in the Gold Coast, as well as in Wrigleyville.

CBS News, ABC, Huffington Post, many news outlets have run reports on the spike in crime in Wrigleyville, Gold Coast, and Boystown.

To me, this is another website that is helpful to people to help keep people aware of the situation in this area.

Interesting to me though, is that the blogger is only reporting the robberies; he is not including the assault/batteries, rapes, stabbings, fights, public nuisance/disturbances that are called in almost every night where the temperature goes above 60. His blog entry only shows one type of street crime. He is also not reporting the apartment break ins etc that have been ongoing.

I agree though, that *most* of the robberies and crimes are occurring at night, usually after 10pm in a very narrow window. But we also have to consider that most of the crimes are also occurring mostly on warmer nights. So, that changes the picture somewhat.

Also, many robberies are not reported at all; only a certain percentage of crimes are reported for whatever reason.

I saw the title of this thread, and figured it was about potholes.

For whatever reason, some of the forumers prefer to put their collective heads in the sand. They think their role is that of Chamber of Commerce representative or something.

On another thread people called me a liar for saying there were homeless in Lakeview. I can't walk two blocks without being asked for change, and there's a smelly homeless woman permanently parked in front of the entrance of the new Lakeview Walmart, but apparently I'm just making stuff up...
