Alex Clifford, Metra Chairman, resigned Friday. Because it was before the weekend, most of Metra's 450,000 regular riders probably missed it. He was on his way out anyway, having been hired to straighten out procedures following the suicide of former director Phil Pagano. Under his tenure transparency improved, but there was a huge fare increase and the elimination of the ten-ride discount. if anything, the public is concerned about the very generous $400,000 going away present the board gave him. Your thoughts?

I'm guessing most riders don't particularly care who the Metra chairman is.

As someone who rides Metra regularly, the 10-ride discount (and fare increases) were a bummer as it virtually incentivized me to drive (my commute is an hour and 15 minutes by car, an hour and 40 minutes via walking/train/some car use). I still took the train more often than not as reading on the train vs. sitting in rush hour was worth the train ride for me. Still, I would have used the Metra MUCH more frequently without the increases.

My thought: There are people who know the name of the chairman of Metra?

It's a news story only insiders at METRA would be particularly concerned about.
