There is no fast money in real estate. There are neighborhoods in this city that have been in a "boom" for decades.

That being said, yes, that area is probably a decent long-term investment.

Busted! LOL! This area has long since arrived, as everyone said. Try Little Village for your speculating.

Some pages have more than others for UK Village area but you can see it.

Rents there are still pretty low but some of the houses built/on the market/being built are not exactly cheap (not amazingly expensive either, but not cheap).
Cool map. Thanks!

You accused me of saying Latinos are not nice which I did not imply in any way. If you are now accusing me of contrasting newer restaurants and retail, like we are seeing in the West Loop and on Division street, as being nicer than some of the Latino business currently on Chicago ave, then I guess I am "guilty". But in no way am I saying that Latino businesses are and/or cannot be nice. If you read my earlier posts, I mentioned "older latino businesses".

Again, all I am asking is if the neighborhood is heading towards the likes of Wicker Park/Division St and the West Loop or do we think it is heading in a different direction (for the better or worse)

The neighborhoods don't have the same kind of high end retail and restaurants as Wicker Park and West Loop, but they're still in a solid direction. Relatively expensive apartments (more so Noble Square) with relatively cheap restaurants and limited retail (more so East Village). I prefer Noble Square a bit more; definitely more a gentrified community overall.

Why do you think this neighborhood is not seeing the same kind of restaurant action as Logan Square is right now?

Are there higher-end restaurants coming to/already in East Village? I enjoy walking along Chicago, especially when I'm taking the longer route to Lockdown, and seeing the different shops, but it seems - and granted I don't go there a whole lot - that it's a little quiet. Lots of cheaper Mexican restaurants on Ashland too, but are there all that many Asian, Italian, burger, etc, places?

Just not getting the Logan Square vibe, and frankly I think that's a little overrated.

Eh, there's more high end/not cheap stuff in UK Village than Noble Square IMO. For example:

* a tavola - Ukrainian Village - Chicago, IL
* Ruxbin - Chicago, IL
* Arami - Ukrainian Village - Chicago, IL
* Homestead - Ukrainian Village - Chicago, IL
* Bonnie & Clyde's - Ukrainian Village - Chicago, IL
* Post 27 - Ukrainian Village - Chicago, IL
* Le Dress - Ukrainian Village - Chicago, IL
* Urban Remains - Ukrainian Village - Chicago, IL
* Study Hall - Ukrainian Village - Chicago, IL
* Agent Gallery - Ukrainian Village - Chicago, IL
* Sir & Madame - Ukrainian Village - Chicago, IL
*

It would make me sad if it turned into Wicker Park II; I like it as it is, but there is not much you can do about it.

Stopped into the Loop Tavern last weekend.

My friend once asked the bartender why it was called that and she said nobody knows.
