Why do you think you were jumped just because you were white? I lived near there in the mid 90s and saw plenty of black dudes, but never had any problems.

I think the issue that needs addressing is: when is it OK to use your fists against another human being?

I was raised that it's never OK to hit someone first, and the sticks-and-stones-may-break-my-bones-but-words-will-never-hurt-me thing.

After someone swings at you, that's self defense.

That's where this is so problematic IMO, the jury only had total nutbag GZ's account to go from. Nobody knows but GZ what actually happened, I'd certainly not assume he was entirely truthful.

For starters, GZ's line about Trayvon seeing his gun and going "You're gonna die now, motherf*****" sounds contrived and like a load of BS to me.

But on the other hand, I delivered pizzas into some pretty rough neighborhoods in Champaign, IL in the early 90s. There was a period where some of our drivers were getting sucker-punched, and story was there was a "polar bear club" where black kids gained entry by hitting white folks.

Probably true, I heard it first-hand from a few guys. Also probably wildly exaggerated and certainly not representative of 99% of black folks. The nicest people I ever delivered to were the poorest black folks, without any question.

I was in far north Rogers Park, by Jarvis. There were a series of attacks on young whites that had moved into the neighborhood. Who knows, maybe they thought we were some yuppie white shock troops (when in fact most of us were struggling temps/waiters that couldn't even afford central Rogers Park) sent to take over their neighborhood. Ironically, we were the kind of naive young whites that had no problem choosing to live in a black neighborhood....big mistake.

This was in 91....maybe things improved later. But the point is, pretending like these things aren't happening daily in America is doing NOBODY any good.

And trust me, these attacks (such as mine) have been going on long long before the advent of cell phones, the internet and youtube.......and they were ACTIVELY censored by the Democratic controlled media that relies on near 100% black support electorally. In order to get that support, they need to agitate and motivate black people's sense of victimhood in order to push through their socialist agenda.

Proof of that, is that at the time, I and my friend could not report this as a hate crime, the cop the next day told me only non-whites could report hate crimes (and presumably women and gays). He also said the media wouldn't touch our attack. Now if I had been black and trashed by whites, Al Sharpton would have visited me in the hospital and I would have gone on Larry King. See how this works?

But the gig is up, the internet can bypass the mainstream media's censorship. and ironically, I think Black America will be the largest beneficiary of this truth-telling.

I rode the train from Jarvis 5 days a week for over a year and have had friends in Rogers Park since the 80s. I've never heard anyone claim that either Rogers Park was a black neighborhood nor that they were singled out.

Rogers Park is a large neighborhood and the section from Jarvis to Howard was almost entirely black. The further south you went, the more mixed. I was north of Jarvis.

There was no other reason to attack us....it is also what the cops TOLD us the next day. (They were white) One even asked why we were living in the neighborhood. Are you seriously unaware that black-on-black crime far outnumbers black-on-white?

And you don't know what you're talking about in terms of RP. Jarvis to Howard is not a "black neighborhood," I suspect you are massively projecting the Juneway Terrace housing demographics to the larger neighborhood.

Anyone can do a web search to "prove" some racial conspiracy by cherry picking crime stories, but that doesn't make the theories any more credible, nor tragic anecdotal stories any more appropriate in terms of smearing large groups of people as criminals.

In an hour I will be taking public transportation with hundreds of people of all backgrounds, I suspect I will once again make it home alive.

Oh, and god forbid Chicago police would ever be anything less than 100% authoritative experts on racial matters. Did you somehow miss out on the Burge police torture stories while you were in Rogers Park?
