I suspect he means that North Siders in general aren't aware how pleasantly serene the lakefront path is south of McCormick.

The lakefront neighborhoods between Navy Pier and Foster are the areas with the densest housing in the City, so it makes sense that lakefront usage in those areas is pretty crazy.

Do you run with an iPod/headphones in? If you're worried about muggings, I advise not wearing them. They both destroy your ability to hear someone coming up behind you/from the side, and are an obvious indicator that you have something worth stealing (the iPod).

I personally only carry my keys with me when I run, so there really isn't anything of value to steal if I get unlucky.

OP, where do you start your run from? I assume you're trying to get a good long run vs. just trying to explore the city south of 31st..

Don't be mad I'm letting word out to the rest of the city.

I start from where I live which is around Congress and Wells. I head north a little and then take Randolph to the Lake. I go past Navy Pier and then turn around to head south. I then run back to museum campus. I definitely looking for a good long run, I am trying to get up to 20 miles but I hate running in damn circles.

I do run with headphones in but they are black and a little harder to see than white ones. I also keep the music sort of low or even listen to an audiobook so I can generally hear pretty well.

Why don't you run North?
