I'm looking at buying a condo in Buena Park. How is the 800 block on Belle Plaine for safety? I am a young female and would be walking to/from the Sheridan El for my daily commute. Are areas of Buena Park better than others, or is it pretty much the same as long as you're south of Montrose? I'm also looking at a couple places on Clarendon, Sheridan, and Kenmore.
Thanks!

It's pretty safe. Montrose and north for a little bit gets shadier, but south of there is completely fine IMO.

My uncle owns a condo in that area. It's VERY safe. I love going there, because it's a pretty neighborhood. And the poster above is right, it gets shadier north of Montrose, but even that's not TERRIBLE.

I live near there, very safe and very beautiful. Love the housing stock.

That block is fine, but there are a lot of homeless and/or mentally ill people hanging out on Broadway at the convenience (liquor) store and bus stop. I had a female friend who lived on the 900 block of Belle Plaine a few years ago right on the corner of Broadway/Belle Plaine, and she didn't like the noise from Broadway and strangers occasionally ringing her bell in the middle of the night.

I lived in Buena Park for eight years (left earlier this year), and liked living there more than I thought I would.

Sunny111, I think you'll be fine. Broadway just south of Belle Plaine always has guys hanging out by the storage building and they're harmless, and Buena Park overall is a safe and a pleasant neighborhood.

It's gotten a little quieter since the "Manhattan Liquors" shut down and the old KFC was/is rehabbed into a new 7-11. I believe the old Manhattan Liquors is being revamped into a wine/cheese/marketplace. Something a little upscale.
