Where else are you going to hear online quibbles about the differences between CSA's and MSA's, and what the true definition of a metropolitan area is? My comment may seem like sarcasm, but this is good stuff to an urban statistics geek like me.

I just don't have the energy any longer to argue with people who don't know what a crime "rate" is, or who believe sensationalist news stories that fail to take in to account population or scale. I can only say so many times that "Yes, Chicago has a higher crime rate than New York or Los Angeles, but the crime rate per 100,000 residents is actually nothing out of the ordinary for a large American city". Because the idiots on cable news or Vice seem totally incapable of doing actual reporting or research.

Oh. I didn't really see it as a quibble over the difference between the two, which isn't really debatable. I just saw it as somebody not recognizing the difference between the two, which I find annoying more than great. But yes, if that sort of thing entertains you, you're in the right place!
