Yep. I actually whip my phone out while waiting for the train. Maybe it's luck but I never attract any weird attention while this is happening.

I even have a brand new HTC One, which has a faster processor, more memory, and just as much (and sometimes more) storage than the iPhone 5 with a build that's just as solid, with a larger screen and nobody seems to know what it is. I'm fine with that (watch these are my famous last words).

Yeah, you're more likely to get ripped off if you have an iPhone. Apple products still have that really nice care-free warranty though.

It's just because thieves immediately recognize the iPhone as an iPhone. Can YOU instantly identify a 600 dollar Android and distinguish it from a much cheaper phone?

Also because most iPhone users are mindless drones that are less likely to notice that their phone has been lifted from their zombie beings.

I'm much more likely to get my iPhone stolen than get shot by a bullet intended for a gang banger. And I know I'm not alone in that.

Getting my iPhone stolen or someone breaking into my car to snatch my iPod or jack the head unit in my car's stereo system are my BIGGEST concerns about rough neighborhoods. I've never felt the need to wear a bullet proof vest but I always take precautions to prevent this thievery.

Really? That's your biggest concern in a rough neighborhood? How different people think. Personally, my life or my family's life is more important than some overpriced cellphone. Which is the reason I stay out of troubled areas. I don't even go there unless I have a good reason.

Don't wanna speak for urza, but I'm sure the reasoning behind his statement was due to the likelihood of those crimes occurring vs. others. Despite popular belief the most common crimes in the hood aren't murder or shootings, but thefts and break-ins (just like most places actually).
