Anyone know the name of these trees that surround Chicago's Water Tower? I understand it's hard to make out because they are so far away, and have basically lost most of the leaves. Chicagoan's?

Tons of tree are dropping their leaves because the city has basically had no rain since June.

Can't tell from the picture, but I'd wager Drover is right & these are honeylocusts. Very tough street tree, and people like the dappled shade the leaves provide.

Locusts, Gingkos, Trees of Heaven .. The preferred 'parkway' trees downtown and near north .. They are hardy . They have put maples, etc on some of the roof top gardens . They look great when changing , as one needs to look up to see them ( ABM Bank building, North Side of Madison at Jefferson .interesting what our dry spell will do to the color and duration of leaf season this year .
