Im a dive bar kind of guy, not really into clubs, and im also very much into sports and live music.

Im guessing places like Wrigleyville, Wicker Park and Logan Square are all preferrable spots that suit my tastes?

I hear Lakeview is more for yuppies? No idea.

Also, feel free to bust my balls for such a silly inquiry.

Really what you just described is probably the most popular thing as far as nightlife goes in this city. You can find that almost anywhere except perhaps the stodgier parts of Lincoln Park (someone feel free to correct me). Add Division Street and Hubbard Street/River North to your list. The latter is more known for its hotsh1t clubs but don't be discouraged, for there are plenty of divey sports/music bars around. The NW side scene (Wicker Park, Logan Square, Ukrainian Vllage), in general, is all about bars but a little less about live music and much less about sports. South Loop and West Loop are probably up your alley, too.

I'm not sure if I'd call it the most popular, but it's up there for sure. You can find dive bars pretty much anywhere. Even near me in the Gold Coast I know of two dive bars/old irish style pubs mixed in with everything else. Even in River North amongst clubs, lounges, etc etc you can find them.

Live music venues which are good... Schubas, Double Door, Empty Bottle, Abbey Pub, Reggies, Lincoln Hall, Hideout, Metro, the Vic, Aragon, Bottom Lounge, House Of Blues, Quenchers, and more... They're mostly on north/north west sides, but over fairly large area.

Nice! Thanks!

What about sports bars? Blackhawks ones?

Im guessing theyre probably your run of the mill type, but I think finding a divey bar that plays indie or alternative that also has a Chicago sports twist to it would be excellent.

What is the South Loop more like? I know there are condos there and shops but thats about it.

Thanks again guys.

You kind of contradicted yourself.
