Yeah, and I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. You don't think the seat was his the minute he announced that he was running? Ooookay lol. Maybe "stolen" is the wrong word. "Given" is more appropriate.

No, it isn't. If the police are aware of a violence problem it's their issue to solve. They are getting paid to protect the city. "Two-way street" my ass. Not trying to hear your garbage. You all want to disparage a particular community as completely irresponsible yet turn around and expect that same community to police itself? GTFOH.

Chicago will never change as long as people like the folks on this forum continue to live there.

You didn't answer my question, and I'm not acknowledging your red herring.

"Bored morons intent on destroying each other"? Care to share the research you used to come to this conclusion?

Once again it's gang retaliation

Quote:
Police believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the Black P. Stones and Gangster Disciples. It was not known if any of the victims were the intended targets, authorities said.

Good news is that:

Overall, though, violent crime is down in 2013 compared with 2012, when homicides surged past 500 for the first time since 2008. Through Sept. 8, Chicago had registered 297 homicides this year. That was 21 percent fewer than the 377 recorded over the same period last year.

CPD pulled those names out of 1990s data. McCarthy probably doesn't know what the hell a Black P Stone is. Give me a break. They're trying to skirt responsibility by placing the blame on phantom gangs. "Gangs" to "Chicago crime" is what Al Q.a.id.a is to American t.err.oism.

Phantom gangs? So this shooting incident is not gang related in your opinion?

No. From this day on, before you read about a shooting in a black/Latino neighborhood, say to yourself: "I bet the police are going to say it's gang-related" and then read the news story to see if it's true. 99% of the time, in certain neighborhoods, the default answer will be "gang-related". People are not gang banging like that anymore. Take it from someone who rides through some of these neighborhoods on a weekly basis. It's just no happening. Gangs are not organized like that anymore. Is the drug trade still alive? Absolutely. But not like it was in the 90s. Not even close.

^^

So gangs which control the drug trade are still shooting each other for turf.... That hasn't changed much.

So what evidence do you have that this incident wasn't a retaliatory between two rival gangs?

And yes there still is "gangbanging" in Chicago, it is all about the money
