I read your original post shortly after you made it, but because your question was well-answered by the time I saw it I didn't reply at the time.
I am gay and partnered with a 29yo guy who has struggled with things in the past and who still does sometimes today. Hearing stories like yours that are about finding a true friend and getting needed help make my day.
